My criticism of American Society is must we hate and go to war with one another? Why must we fight out sisters and brothers? Is there no better way to resolve our problems not as a nation or group of people but as a race as a whole? My fundamental goal is world peace and human brotherhood, and for the world to be a place of peace and unity between all nations.
My Methods for World Peace are far reaching and vast. I try to appeal to both the diginirties and the common man. I lectured all over the United State and Europe for the cause of brotherhood and World Unity.I wrote many books Sparks from the Anvil (1847), Advocate of Peace and Universal Brotherhood. Often I traveled to Europe when tension between Great Britain and France grew to promote pacifism on both sides in the common people . In addition, I started the Christian Citizen, a publication I used to spread by humanitarian views and ideals to the common men of the world. I rallied for international penny postage, so all nations of the world could share information quickly, economically and amicably. Last but not least, my principal attempt at World Unity and humanitarianism was the establishment of the Congress of Friends of Peace. After the first congress in Brussels, we had ones in Frankfurt, London, Manchester, and Edinburgh too.
The success I had was limited but that did not deter my efforts. I had little success due to the out break of the Crimean War and the impending Civil War. My major attempt at world peace did become a stepping stone for futrue world bodies. The Congress of Friend of Peace lead to the League of Nations and the United Nations council. While I did not reach the majority of the population I am proud of the ones who did join my stand in the light of pacifisms
The practically of methods can hardly be challenged. I wrote pamphlets, editorials, and books as to get my ideals out to the common man that could be widely published. Also, I lectured all over America and Europe, trying to spread humanitarianism and world peace. I put a face on the idea of World Peace by getting out into the general public and publicly fighting for my cause. I organized the congress of influential people from many nations to come together in a display of World Unity. The ideals and organization could be taking back to their home country to promote World Peace from within
The assistant provided by federal support could potentially greatly improve the success of my peace movement. The leaders of the Worlds foremost powers could set an example for the common man, "If the leaders and nations of the world can get along, then we should too" . The passing legislation affirming World Peace and decrease the size of the Military would be great shows of a commitment to peace. Fenderal funding for international penny postage would allow fast, cheap, and easy way for the people of the world to communicate. Forming Peace Treaties with long standing enemies would go to great lenght to strenghten world
peace. The development of federal programs that encourage World Peace and Unity would also be very benificial and perhaps the formation of a World Newspaper where each country writes a section and distribute worldwide could promote unity.
Abe Lincoln can attest to my world peace reform ideals. We saw eye to eye on the principal of slavery, temperance and world peace, as a result I was appointed to the United States council in Briminingham, England. In addition, William Ladd, another New England pacifist would corroborrate my peaceful goals and intentions. We worked together in New England to spread the peace and world unity ideals.
So I leave you with one of my more noteable quote, "No human being can come into this world without increasing or diminishing the sum total of human happiness.". So whether you be a common man or a king you have the power to influence the world for the better or worse, it's up to you to decide.
